My accident

Well so in case you have yet to hear about it i was in a serious biking accident. I was crossing a road at a green walking sign and a car ran the red light, turned the corner, and hit me. Sadly as often as I bike I did not in fact have a helmet on. So I hit my head, shoulder, and lower back. I was in Gulf Shores (which fyi, does not have an adequate ER) so I was helicoptered to Pensacola. I have interestingly been in a helicopter before but this ride was not even close to fun or eventful. Because of my head injury (which included a bleeding brain) I was in a coma for a bit, had a tube down my throat, and stayed there for a good two weeks. Praise the Lord that I had friends and family there with me to keep me company and help me feel safe, loved, and protected. My cousin Chuck who lives in Mobile was one of the first to arrive, all four of my parents showed up, my sister in law Irna May came to Pensacola and Bham, more cousins of course (Patty, Amy and Ellen), and my Aunt Missy came too. Two amazing friends Tim, and Lane (along with Ross and the 2 girls, Selah and Kiera) were there for a while as well. Also Tommy showed up as well to check on me (and take horrible pictures). Then I read that my two Meredith's came as well.
Once I flew back to Birmingham (I am a MedJet member) I, luckily of course, got to spend about two weeks at UAB. Tons of friends and family came there too. It is amazing to feel as loved and protected as I do. I can't wait for life to get back to normal but am willing to live through the continued healing. Head and back are a little questionable and the doctors seem to say that I will be back to normal in at least 5 weeks. Life way not be the same but I am alive, praise the Lord for that.

  3. You are quite a miracle! And the injury certainly hasn't affected your writing skills ;)
