Two amazing weekends

So I had the chance to go out of town two weekends in a row to two awesome places with great people.
The first trip was back to the fun of True Adventure Sports. We had an awesome adventure hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, canoeing and caving.  I had fun rock climbing and canoeing.  It was such an adventure, I loved it.
All the rock climbers

All the rappellers

I do love sunrise

So next I went off to my place of peace and happiness, the BEACH
I love love the beach.  Reading a book while sitting on the sand, listening to the ocean, is one of my very favorite things to do.  My friend Meredith and I had a great time and already cannot wait until next year to go back.

First night made wonderful by walking on the beach with drinks
sunset was beautiful, loved how the sun hit the water

Reading the book on  the beach, loved it.  Didn't hurt that a woman was walking around taking drink orders

we thought it would be funny to take a pic of our very different tans

The moon was really beautiful

Bananas Foster for dessert was fun to watch

bye bye beach :(

SVCC Women's Retreat

This past weekend I had a little fear about it but I gave in and went on a women's retreat out at Camp McDowell with some amazing women from Shades Valley Community Church. It was a weekend that brought about tears and joy, both of which are good for the soul. We had a speaker come out and talk about the possible shame and guilt that we may go through as well as the behaviors that we use to cope. It was very eye opening, I had a very good weekend. Beyond all that it is beautiful out there up near the Bankhead Forrest. I throughly enjoyed taking out my bike each morning for some road and mountain biking. The weekend really was well worth it and I already cannot wait until next year.

Grief is Hard

3 months ago today my dearly beloved stepmother Jeanne died. Metastatic Melanoma is a scary cancer that took her away from us. It sounds like it was so long ago but it still hurts just as much. This past weekend we all flew up to New Hampshire for the final funeral and buried her in a beautiful town that she loved. It really is a great place and all of her family and friends are amazing people. As hard as it is to think about her and to talk about her it really was a great trip. Reminiscing is good for the soul. I loved hearing all the stories of her lifetime. She is missed and we will always remember her.

True Adventure

Pure Beauty

This past weekend I went on a women's retreat with 10 other great and adventurous women. We had an awesome and amazing time with True Adventure Sports Vacations and Adventures. Here is there website if you want to check them out http://www.trueadventuresports.com/
I highly recommend it. We really got to see and experience the pure beauty that God has left for us to explore. We were up near the Fort Payne area really close to Little River Canyon. They do all kinds of adventure there. I chose to do the extreme night hike, river kayaking, and caving. They were all great and a true hard core work out.

Of course we had to try the rope swings

And then on to the cave

Finally did my first Triathlon

Well I am down at the Coast and have finally signed up for and completed my first triathlon! I am so beyond excited and ready on the way down here and now I am so beyond happy at my accomplishment. It is hard to believe that I almost died training for this day interestingly down here in Gulf Shores. No fear though, I have been waiting for this day for almost 2 years!

I was as ready as
I could possibly be last night :)

A beautiful sunrise this morning to help prepare me

I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!

Well once again I haven't posted in forever. So here it goes with life right now. I obviously got back from Europe and then spent my summer doing fun things in and around Birmingham. Last weekly I magically got to go to one of my all time favorite places... the Beach. If I ever found some amazing job and home near the beach I think that I would be there in a second. Here is to hoping.
I got to head down to Fort Walton Beach and spend some time with an old friend,Ellen, and help out with her three cute little boys - Scott, Todd, and little Harris. We had a great time. Here are some pictures to prove it

My favorite time of day

Finally back in the saddle

It has been a long long time since my last blog post. While taking a school course in Italy we had to keep a blog and that made me want to get back to the fun of blogging. Here is a link to my school blog http://klconnoruabitaly.blogspot.com/
Currently after leaving Italy I jetted over to England to visit my awesome, soon to be Major in the AF!, cousin Amy
Here is a pic of us at a cute little lunch place the other day. Well really the place seemed very proud of their tea and so we both had tea. Amy tried for a chocolate tea but they were out and said they did have a dark choc tea in, which interestingly seemed to really be cinnamon in hot water to me :)

We have quite a bit of fun so far including a play in London! We took the train/tube down to see Billy Elliot and afterwards went out for sushi and sake. The play was great and the food and spirits were beyond yummy

all of us out at the Sushi dinner

Amy and her friend Rebecca

We have eaten out more than I have in a long time and I am sure I will have to really hit the gym when I get back to the States next week. Luckily Amy is obsessed with walking her dog Zoey for an hour everyday so I am getting some exercise in, today while alone Zoey and I went on a run through the country, it was beautiful

A very crafty bunny made a pretty heart hole

I thought there were a lot of poppies in Italy, wow there are a gazillion here

Amy and her crazy dog :)
